We’ve all heard of USB. After all, we’ve been using it with computers since 1996, and it’s now available on mobile devices as well.
Yes, it has been that long.
It would be more difficult to connect various types of devices, charge them, and transfer data if USB did not exist.
Of course, USB has evolved and improved over time. And another new improvement is on the way in the coming months.
What makes this one interesting is that you won’t need to purchase any new USB accessories or cables.
The USB Promoter Group, the industry body responsible for USB advancements, recently announced the planned release of USB 4 2.0.
What’s the big deal about that, you ask?
This will actually allow you to double the data transfer speeds on cables you already own if they are less than a couple of years old.
The maximum data transfer performance of this new standard will be up to 80Gbps. That’s gigabits per second.
It means that displays will perform better and data will transfer more quickly. Excellent news for increasing business productivity.
Microsoft, Apple, HP, and Intel are among the members of the USB Promoter Group.
Its primary responsibility is to develop USB capabilities to meet current market demand and to expand support for more platforms.
We are anticipating an update to USB 4 2.0 in November.
