Microsoft and Samsung team up to boost work phone security

You’ve gone through your pockets, bag, and beneath the cushions… It finally hits you. You left your business phone on the coffee shop table.

You panic.

You’re concerned about all the important business information contained on the device, not the device itself. If the phone falls into the wrong hands, you’re in for a nightmare.

But that anxiety may be over. Microsoft and Samsung are collaborating to make your work phones more secure. This month, they’re releasing a game-changing solution to assist secure anyone who uses a Samsung Galaxy device at work.

How?

With a technique known as on-device attestation. It enables businesses to determine whether mobile devices have been compromised, even at the most fundamental level. Consider it a security guard for your phone.

Samsung contributes software and hardware breakthroughs, while Microsoft contributes endpoint management experience.

And, unlike other device attestation solutions, this solution operates reliably regardless of network connectivity or device ownership model.

This solution will be introduced alongside Microsoft Intune (formerly known as Windows Intune), a single endpoint management service for both corporate and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) devices. It will also be accessible on select Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets, particularly those labelled “Secured by Knox.”

So, whether you’re working from the office, a crowded cafe, or a caravan by the river, your device is secure.

In the professional world, your phone is more than simply a means of communication. It’s a safe deposit box for sensitive (and important) information. And with Microsoft and Samsung on the case, that vault has just become a lot more secure.
