Are you losing hours each week setting up video calls?

You could be losing a full working week for each member of your team, because of the hassle of setting up video calls.

Video conferencing has transformed team meetings and saved a significant amount of travel time. According to new research, however, we are still not reaping the full benefits of new technology.

Employees between the ages of 18 and 24 take up to ten minutes to prepare for each remote meeting.

Multiply that by a typical five meetings per week, and you’ve suddenly lost 40 hours per year. That’s a whole working week of lost time, and the figure rises even higher as people get older.

It isn’t always due to disparities in technological knowledge. According to the findings, employees blame the technology for the loss of productivity.

Almost a third of respondents said they lacked the necessary tools for the job, and 23% felt excluded from remote meetings due to inadequate technology.

Employees frequently believe that the audio-visual (AV) technology provided for remote and hybrid working is inadequate. That means bad microphones that don’t work, jittery webcams that obstruct communication, or the wrong video calling software. All of this makes meetings more difficult to organise and causes them to last longer than necessary.

Despite this, businesses that offer remote and hybrid working reap benefits in a variety of other areas, including employee engagement and performance.

But there is a solution.

Review your employees’ AV technology to ensure that their tools are not slowing them down; new webcams and microphones may be a cheap and simple fix.

It’s also a good idea to ask your employees to identify areas where they see problems. If they are having difficulty using your current system or logging in, you should consider alternative options or better training.

If this is something that is slowing you down, we can help.
